Beginning Theatre I
An introduction to all areas of theatre; especially beneficial to students who appreciate theatre, but are still trying to find what really interests them. This class is a pre-requisite for Theatre II/III and Theatre IV.
Technical Theatre Beginning (Technical Theatre 1)
Students should be interested in the technical aspects of theatrical production instead of, or in addition to, acting. Areas of student learning include directing, stage makeup, costume design and construction, theatre organization, management and operation, scenery design and set construction, theatrical lighting, and sound effects. Students will work on the technical aspects of our extracurricular productions during class time and will be given the opportunity to work on those productions outside of class.
Intermediate Theatre II
The primary focus of this class is to expose students to various styles of theatre. This class thoroughly explores the history of theatre from around the world from the dawn of time through the 16th century. Diving further into acting techniques and tech theatre, we will start to explore Shakespeare and different types of theatre. This class is a prerequisite for Theatre IV.
Technical Theatre Intermediate (Technical Theatre II)
Students will further develop their technical theater skills in the areas of directing, stage makeup, costume design and construction, theatre organization, management and operation, scenery design and set construction, theatrical lighting, and sound effects. Students will work on the technical aspects of our extracurricular productions and will be given the opportunity to perform leadership roles in those productions. Technical Theatre Beginning is a Prerequisite.
Proficient Theatre III
Proficient Theatre: Further explores advanced theatre topics and will learn about the finer details and nuances of theatre in this course, with a heavier focus on acting/theatrical styles and performance. This class is a prerequisite for Theatre IV.
Honors Advanced Theatre IV
The primary focus of this class is to prepare students for a higher education in the theatrical arts and/or prepare them for an immediate career in the theatrical arts.
